Biography of Pastor Bennett B. Gamble, Sr.
Pastor, New Beginning Way of the Cross Church

"This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes." Psalm 118:23

Elder Bennett B. Gamble, Sr. is a native of the District of Columbia and the oldest of five children born to the late Benny and Bernetha Gamble. He obtained his education through the D.C. Public School System where he was an honor student and very active in the Performing Arts. He also studied at the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University.

Pastor Gamble's life is one reflective of an early commitment to Christ and the church. He preached his first sermon at age 12 and taught his first Sunday School Class, ‘Class 4 Boys’, at age 14. He accepted his call to minister the Gospel at age 16, under the leadership of Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks. He later received his degree in Theology after studying at the Apostolic Christian Educational College.

Blessed with a variety of gifts and talents, he is recognized by many near and far as a musician's musician. He is very proud of his former youth choir, Voices of Tomorrow (the winners of the National Quaker Oats Choir Competition and recipients of a $17,500 award) and the founding of the Next Generation Youth Choir which, under his direction, includes over 25 honor students from pre-school to college age.

A dynamic speaker, Pastor Gamble has been an active participant in the annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy and Black History Month as an orator of Dr. King’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech. At a very young age, Pastor Gamble committed the writings of Dr. King to memory. After delivering several performances in the D.C. Public Schools, he began to receive requests from numerous churches and organizations to join their respective programs and celebrations during the King Holiday. The requests currently continue and recently Pastor Gamble has been honored to recite the speech over the airwaves for WKYS 93.9 FM’s Gospel Programming; the U.S. Department of State; the Social Security Administration; the U.S. Department of Labor; alongside Congressman Elijah Cummings; and on the stage of the historic Lincoln Theatre.

With a God given ability to preach, coupled with the experience and growth from his past, Pastor Gamble delivers an encouraging message of restoration and renewal. Having been elected First Vice-President of the National Youth for Christ and serving as District Elder in the Middle Atlantic Diocese, he is committed to building a purpose-driven, five-star church intended to win the world for Christ.
